Music Lessons and Music Therapy ​at Adagio!

Fun, comprehensive, and engaging piano, voice, and guitar lessons and music therapy services available in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and virtually/online in any location! No prior musical experience necessary! Lessons and music therapy sessions​ are designed to meet individual client interests, needs, and goals.  Lesson students range from pre-K age to 90+ years old, and both standard and adaptive lessons are available. For music therapy services, populations served include, but are not limited to, individuals with dementia, autism spectrum disorder, genetic disorders, developmental delays, stroke, and Parkinson's disease.

Music Lessons

Do you or your child want to learn classical music, pop songs, musical theatre repertoire, rap, or opera music?  Do they want to play music as a hobby, to compete, and/or to prepare for collegiate studies?  You can choose at Adagio!  All lessons also include structured and graduated instruction in musical notation, technique, and theory.  Lessons and therapy sessions are facilitated with patience, positivity, enthusiasm, and with attention to the client's particular learning style.  An optional recital held annually gives lesson students a chance to showcase their skills and to build self-confidence.  Adagio's primary instructor and board certified music therapist completed collegiate studies in both general music and music therapy and has been teaching for over twelve years.  

Piano and guitar lessons are open to students ages four and up, and voice lessons are open to students ages 8 and up.  Spacious studio is located near I-485 exit 36.  Visit our Lesson Services tab for further information.

Music Therapy

Do you or a loved one have a special need or health need? Adagio Music Therapy offers professional music therapy services provided by a nationally board certified music therapist, with additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy.  Music therapy is a systematic, research-based process of intervention that utilizes music to assist individuals in meeting non-musical goals.  Populations served at Adagio include individuals with dementia, stroke, autism spectrum disorder, genetic disorders, developmental delays, and Parkinson's Disease.  Music interventions and music genre(s) and songs are customized to meet client interests and needs.

Meet the Instructor & Music Therapist: Audrey Reynolds, MT-BC

Audrey Reynolds, MT-BC holds both a B.A. in Music from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with minors in Dance and Theatre Arts and a B.S. in Human Biology from North Carolina State University.  She additionally holds the credential of Music Therapist - Board Certified, due to completion of music therapy studies at Appalachian State University, completion of over 1200 hours of clinical training at Allegro Music Therapy and Education Services, and passing the national board certification examination.  While at UNC Charlotte, Audrey studied voice under the prestigious Mrs. Jane Dillard, past president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.  Her piano studies took place with concert pianist and professor Dr. Dylan Savage, and Betty Williams, an instructor with teaching lineage that can be traced back to Beethoven (Edwin Hughes, Leschetizsky, Czerny, Beethoven).  

Audrey has been playing piano from the age of four and has been teaching private music lessons from the age of sixteen.  She enjoys working with clients of all ages and skill levels, teaching or facilitating music therapy sessions with kindness, patience, and enthusiasm.  Her goal is to foster a love and appreciation of music and to work with each client in the manner that best allows them to grow, attain goals, and flourish. She hopes to motivate students to make music a part of their life, both now and in the future, whether for personal expression, for health, performance, or for collegiate studies and professional pursuits. Audrey
 has continued to complete graduate coursework and trainings, including intensive training in Neurologic Music Therapy, and she has a special interest in providing music therapy to individuals with neurological disorders.  She is an active member of The Music Therapy Association of North Carolina, American Music Therapy Association, and Music Teachers National Association.
